After hearing from a number of residents unhappy with the lack of public and expert input in the plan to repeal the town’s term conservation easement program, the Red Hook Town Board elected not to schedule a public hearing on the repeal. Instead, the idea will be sent to a committee of land-use experts for comment.
The plan, pushed by Councilman Harry Colgan and Supervisor Sue Crane, would end the town’s term easement program. The town would still be able to take easements but would not have a plan in place to oversee their enforcement.
