Tivoli to create community garden

At a recent meeting of the Village of Tivoli Board of Trustees, a resolution was adopted unanimously that allocates a portion of the village’s Memorial Park as a community garden.

The garden is a project of the village’s new Green Committee, chaired by Tivoli Trustee Joel Griffith. The committee was formed last year by Mayor Bryan Cranna which has been working to find ways to make the village more environmentally friendly and strong.

Mayor Cranna stated, “I am very proud of the efforts of the Green Committee. The Committee under Trustee Griffith’s leadership has been working diligently to ensure our village remains a healthy community. I applaud the committee’s efforts for taking on this most worthy project and I’m grateful to my colleagues on the village board for approving the resolution to make this garden a reality.”

Trustee Griffith added, “I’d like to remind the many residents who have expressed interest that we are holding our first Gardener’s meeting Saturday, February 11th at 1 pm at Village Hall. If folks haven’t heard about the garden yet is is not too late to get involved, so please join us. All levels of gardening experience are welcome.”
