Global Culture Outreach, a group of students from Bard College, is hosting the first Bard-Red Hook International Culture Festival from 5 to 8 pm on Friday, April 20, at the Red Hook Fire House.
“As a student from China, I’ve enjoyed getting to know Red Hook,” said Wenjie Chen, a Trustee Leader Scholar heading up the festival. “This is a chance for me to share my culture and the culture of other international students with our home away from home.”
The evening will include salsa lessons, international cuisine, Chinese tea-tasting, vocal performances and more. “We want our neighbors to get to know us and to provide an opportunity to answer questions about where we’re from,” Chen said.
This event is free and open to the public.
The festival is partnering with several community organizations, including Red Hook Chamber of Commerce, Red Hook Central School District, Red Hook CAN, Red Hook Public Library and Bard College’s Center for Civic Engagement.
