Twenty seven Red Hook firefighters qualified for the LOSAP program this year, an increase of four over last year. The Length Of Service Award Program (LOSAP), voted into law several years ago, allows qualifying service members to receive points toward pension benefits from their municipality as an incentive to remain active in the volunteer firefighter program. In order to qualify, a firefighter must complete a certain number of training, drill, meeting and call hours.
Assembly budget would undo deep cuts to local schools, other services
The Assembly has passed its one-house budget, reversing deep cuts to education, healthcare and transportation.
