Two hundred twenty-two new positive tests for coronavirus were reported on Friday, Jan. 1 in Dutchess County for a positivity rate of 7.7%, according to the NYS Department of Health.

On Wednesday, the most recent data posted by Dutchess County, the number of active cases being monitored by the county was 1601, an increase of 150 from the previous day and COVID-19 hospitalizations were at 135, an increase of 5.

There was 1 new death attributed to the disease reported by the county.

Over the previous seven days, an average of 2,305 live virus tests were given to county residents each day. Compared to three weeks earlier, active cases were up 33%, hospitalizations were up 50% and there had been 32 new deaths caused by or related to COVID-19.
