It’s simmer time at the Emporium

“soupCan” is a collaborative effort made possible through donations from local businesses: The Red Hook Emporium, Rhinebeck Party Rentals, Terry’s Country Bake Shop and Bard Farm. “Rhinebeck Party Rentals is furnishing a big tent, and Bard Farm is donating some vegetables for our soups,” said Feuer.

“We have a new art exhibit at our gallery every four to six weeks,” said Feuer. “The next one opening is ‘PaperWork,’ all works on paper under $100. We’ll hang (the artwork) on clotheslines in the gallery, all unframed. It’s holiday gifts and cards. It will open Thanksgiving weekend, and the reception will be Sunday afternoon, Dec. 2.”

RHCAN has been on the community’s radar for some time, hosting pop-up art galleries in vacant stores, hosting a literary festival, and offering a wide variety of tutorials and classes that are open to the public. Last summer, a three-day arts festival was the precursor to the opening of the Red Hook Emporium in the old soap factory. The latest venture for RHCAN has been a permanent gallery and artists collective in the center of Red Hook village.

“We’re just finishing up our second year,” said Feuer. “We really try to keep it boiling.”
