After another four-point scoring run to open the fourth, ballooning the lead to 47-31, Pine Plains entered the bonus in the first minute of play. Avis again scored Red’s first basket of the quarter, which was followed by a Hare lay-up on a breakaway at 5:57 to make the score 47-35. Parr drilled another three from his sweet spot, the top left corner, in the final minute, but it was far too little, far too late – Red Hook left the gym with a 59-42 loss.
“I love our energy. Two of our three games this week I was happy with how we competed: FDR on Tuesday, and here, tonight. Of course you’re disappointed because you want to win, but we’ve got a young team and we’re still learning a lot,” Red Hook head coach Matt Hayes told The Observer after the game. “Pine Plains is a very good team. They’ve got, on their team, three of the best kids in the area, and they play well together. Defensively, we held them in the 50s. We didn’t score a whole heck of a lot, but defensively I think our energy was great, and I’m proud of our effort.”
Parr led Red Hook with 16 points on the game, including 12 points from beyond the arc. Rogers, Red’s typical scoring threat, only managed three points on the game on a three-point field goal. Pine Plains star Zach Lydon led all scorers with 23 points.
