Saugerties played with some verve coming out of the locker room after the half, even going on a six-point scoring run early in the third and forcing a Red Hook timeout at 5:23, having narrowed the score to 29-23. Red and blue went shot for shot throughout the middle of the quarter until a barrage of baskets — including a Jessica Wilkinson three at 3:33 (auspicious), another three from Stortini at 1:41, and a lay-in off an inbounds interception for Julianne Wilkinson at 1:21 — helped Red Hook ice the third quarter with a 45-31 lead.
The Lady Raiders breezed through the fourth quarter, which opened with a Jessica Wilkinson three ball at 6:41. Red Hook entered the bonus at 3:09 and Gabriel and Julianne Wilkinson both had baskets in the final minute, with Gabriel scoring on a drive at :48 and Wilkinson putting down a lay-up at :29.
“I thought it was a good team win. Considering that we had a bunch of different combinations out there, I thought we clicked real well. Our hard work is paying off,” said White.
Julianne Wilkinson led all scorers with 22, Jessica Wilkinson with 14 and Gabriel with 10. Senior Heyley Spoljaric led the Sawyers with 16, Tanisha Edge had 11.
In the semi-final round, Red Hook will face Wallkill, the #1 seed in the Section 9 Class A Tournament, in Wallkill on Friday at 6pm.
